Question by : Alternatives to pleading guilty to a 3rd degree retail fraud?
If I do everything in my power to prove to the court that I have taken responsibility for what happened, such as taking a crime prevention class, community service, letters of recommendations, and it is my first offense ever, what are some alternatives to actually getting convicted of the crime? I can get a deferred sentence i know, i know i can get it dropped somehow, but is there anything else? can i get a reduced sentence to a civil infraction or something? this is in michigan and i am 21

just claim you were possessed by an alien at the time.

All of the things you mention might mitigate sentence but they have nothing to do with guilt or innocence.
Most counties have ACD/Diversion or the like for misdemeanor issues. Ask your Attorney if you qualify
